About MISH
The Medical Institute for Sexual Health (MISH) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit health organization whose public mission is to make medically accurate research on sexual health accessible worldwide. Its official materials describe more than three decades of medical expertise used to translate research and clinical knowledge for educators, health professionals, parents, and communities.
The proposed review role
Life That Counts has identified MISH as a prospective independent technical-review organization for specialized health content. If a formal engagement moves forward, the review would focus on the medical accuracy and age appropriateness of participant and facilitator materials addressing subjects such as anatomy and physiology, puberty and development, body literacy, reproductive physiology, fertility signals, pregnancy, sexually transmitted infections, health risks, healthcare communication, and terminology.
What the review would examine
The anticipated review standard includes scientific and clinical grounding, appropriate sources, a clear distinction between evidence and inference, consistent terminology, understandable language, respectful and nonstigmatizing treatment, and suitability for a ninth-grade audience. Recommendations would be documented so Life That Counts can address, revise, or explain the disposition of each material issue.
Role boundaries
This is a bounded technical role. MISH would not implement the program, supervise facilitators, evaluate program effects, provide participant clinical care, offer legal advice, serve as an institutional review board, accredit the curriculum, guarantee federal approval, or receive student-level data as part of the proposed review. Life That Counts would remain responsible for the curriculum and its use; the independent evaluator would remain responsible for evaluation methods and findings.
